Inclusion and diversity "We are all in!"

We believe that where we work – both physical and virtual – must be inclusive in all aspects. It must be a place where we welcome people of all backgrounds and empower them to achieve great things - a place where we practice equity.

We appreciate the full scope of human differences, including ethnic background, gender, culture, religion, nationality, age, disability or health status, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, as well as personality, preferences and working styles. All of this, and more, sway how we see each other as similar or different.

And we like different. After all, Inclusive and diverse teams drive more innovative ideas and thinking, which is good for all of us at Schindler and our customers.

Gender

Gender matters. We feel strongly that our industry and our organization should reflect the mix of genders in society. Beyond our values, we know that mixed gender teams collaborate better and make better decisions. Through targeted development programs, training on unconscious bias, we’re working hard to build a mix of genders across Schindler. Our CEO reviews our progress regularly to make sure we stay on track. Also, our global equal pay initiative ensures that everyone receives fair pay for their role, no matter what their gender. 

Diverse abilities

Mobility solutions are our business, and our technicians think inclusively every day when installing lifts, escalators, or moving walks. Abilities come in many different packages so, through initiatives like our Valuable 500 commitment, we are working to improve how we recruit and include people with disabilities. Several local programs have already helped increase the number of people with disabilities in our workforce.

Generations

We celebrate that there are up to five generations working together at Schindler, offering fantastic opportunities to learn from each other. We encourage every generation to remain open, curious, and ready to learn from others.

Sexual orientation & Gender identity

We know that our personal lives intersect more and more with our work lives. All of us need to feel safe at work to be able to be our true selves. Through training, we encourage all leaders and employees to step up and act as allies when something isn’t safe, or if someone is not treated with respect. We support the UN Standards of Conduct for Business Tackling Discrimination Against LGBTI People.

Ethnicity and Culture

We do not tolerate discrimination and are proud to do our part to fight biases to help make the world more just for all ethnicities. It is only natural that, as a global organization, we reflect the ethnic diversity found in the places where we operate. One way we do this is to promote international mobility, helping to build teams with diverse nationalities around the world.  

Employee inclusion networks

We actively work with our inclusion networks for gender, LGBTQIA+, multicultural /ethnicity, generations, diverse abilities and mental wellbeing, and U.S. veterans to shape our culture so that all colleagues feel part of the team and have a work environment where they feel they belong.
